Caustic Readymade

Caustic Readymade is an optical readymade in which a curved lens is inserted into the handle of a photographic tripod, turning the object into a mobile system for directing light. The tripod allows the lens to be easily moved, tilted, and repositioned, altering the angle of incidence and generating different caustic formations on the surrounding surface.

The work transforms a device designed to stabilise vision into an instrument for bending and displacing it. Through a simple mechanical adjustment, light becomes a mutable field, producing temporary figures that depend on position, angle, distance, and the movement of the lens.
